TITLE: “Cangatto”

Medium size artwork, animal portrait 31.5 × 23.6 inches (80x60cm), acrylic, spray and oil on canvas, Siviglia 2025

The “Cangatto”: A Creature of Imagination and Affection

The “Cangatto” is a whimsical, imaginary animal born from the artist’s vivid imagination. It appears throughout his body of work—sometimes as the central figure, as in this portrait, and other times as a gentle companion to human characters or other subjects in more intricate compositions. Its most distinctive trait? A charming, playful, and contagious smile that radiates joy and a sense of connection.

This painting is more than a depiction of a fantastical creature; it’s a portrait of a friend, a life companion, a symbolic child. Much like the deep emotional bond many dog and cat owners share with their pets, the Cangatto reflects affection, empathy, and the feeling of family. It embodies a universal connection between humans and animals—one of love, loyalty, and shared emotion.

The background, rendered in warm hues of yellow and red, evokes the colors of the Roma football club. Yet it transcends mere sporting symbolism, infusing the artwork with energy, warmth, and a welcoming atmosphere. This vibrant palette enlivens the space and adds a dynamic touch.

Ideal for adorning a creative studio, a veterinary clinic’s waiting room, or the office of any animal lover, this piece doesn’t just decorate—it tells a story. A tale of imagination, affection, and the everyday magic that animals bring into our lives.
