Description

TITLE: “L’Altro Albero”
Square painting “The Other Tree” 100×100 cm, mixed media acrylic on canvas, A. Siviglia 2025
Like its companion piece “L’Albero” Alessandro Siviglia’s narrative centers on a tree that anchors the entire scene. Familiar elements return, but they are changed—same characters, new roles that reveal fresh nuances.
- The king no longer smokes; he has raised his sword and looks toward the queen, who greets him from a branch.
- Two children sit at their feet on the same branch, suggesting innocence and continuity.
- A white dog still reaches for an apple, while a black dog sits calmly below, watching.
- The little devil is gone; instead, new tensions appear: a loving couple shows tenderness on the left, and higher up a man and a woman try to grab a modern icon—the smiley—symbolizing shared desire and global culture.
Recurring figures shift roles to show how archetypes change with emotional and social context. Power, play, affection, and modernity sit side by side, creating layered meanings that invite different readings.
Compared with “The Tree,” this painting leans toward blue tones and reduces the oranges. The result is a quieter, more contemplative mood—a move from summer warmth to reflective dusk, where shadow and color interact gently.
The piece rewards viewers who enjoy complex visual stories. It fits well in contemplative spaces—galleries, living rooms, or study areas—and its conversation with the sister painting enhances the diptych’s overall narrative.
