TITLE: “San Giorgio Vittorioso”
Medieval art revisited, portrait of a saint in acrylic on canvas, 27,55×27,55 inches (70×70 cm), mixed media on canvas, A. Siviglia 2025
Medieval art has always fascinated contemporary artist Alessandro Siviglia, inspiring him to reinterpret its themes through his distinctive Sivigliano style. This neo-Cubist approach, unique in today’s art scene, is marked by bold, vibrant colors, stylized figures, and a mixed technique that combines markers, acrylics, and spray paint. The result is a striking visual world that recalls ancient atmospheres filled with saints, heroes, knights, and epic battles—reimagined with a modern twist.
One of the most notable examples is his depiction of Saint George, the legendary Roman soldier who, according to tradition, defeated evil. In Siviglia’s version, the dragon of legend is replaced by a red devil with horns and wings, a direct and powerful symbol of evil. The painting becomes a universal allegory of the eternal struggle between light and darkness, courage and fear, expressed with a chromatic intensity that captures the eye and stirs the spirit.
This medium-large canvas radiates energy, courage, and determination. More than a tribute to the name Giorgio, it is a work that brings prestige and meaning to the office of a doctor or lawyer who bears that name—standing as a symbol of protection, justice, and resilience.
