TITLE: “Crocefisso Urbano”
This work of art is a combination of painting and photography. The background of the picture is in fact an abstract photograph of a wall on which Siviglia painted Jesus crucified with acrylic colors, mainly in black and white with a very bright golden halo. Christ, suffering, keeps his eyes closed and entrusts himself to the Father.
A painting that brings Christ to our times, into our cities, onto our city walls. Like a piece of street art, however, detached from the wall and brought onto canvas. A semi-abstract religious motif in a contemporary cubist style – the Siviglian style.
Together with the other painting “Maria Crocifissa” the “Urban Crucifix” forms a pair of paintings preferably displayed together. Two large canvases that attract attention and transmit the love of Jesus for humanity and the love of Mary for her Son. Two works that showcase absolute compassion. The compassion of Christ who suffers on the cross supporting FOR US ALL the suffering created by the sin OF US ALL and Mary who lives the sufferings of her very own SON, because it is like torture for any mother to have to see her child die in such a cruel way.
