Back to Classical Mythology

Description

"La Sirena Partenope" is an original painting by Siviglia that depicts the mermaid Partenope in front of a stylized landscape of Naples with the sea, Vesuvius and a shining sun as a backdrop. The horizontal format of the painting makes it ideal for decorating the wall behind a burgundy or yellow sofa or in the bedroom on the wall behind the bed but also in the master bathroom above the tub given the marine subject of the work. Also perfect for a fish restaurant in Naples or an Italian trattoria abroad. The landscapes of Naples and the Amalfi Coast are a recurring theme in the contemporary paintings of the Italian artist Alessandro Siviglia. But it's no wonder given his Campania roots and his love for the city of Naples.

TITLE: “La Sirena Partenope”

Modern artwork on canvas, 27,55×49,21 inches (70x125cm), artist Alessandro Siviglia

“La Sirena Partenope” is an original painting by Siviglia that depicts the mermaid Partenope in front of a stylized landscape of Naples. The sea, Vesuvius and a shining sun are the backdrop. You can also glimpse the Castel dell’Ovo where according to legend “the lifeless body of the mermaid arrived after being thrown into the sea… and right there a torchlight race was dedicated to her, which was carried out every year in her honor ( the so-called Lampadedromie)[3].” (Partenope Sirena)  In Naples Partenope is venerated as a protector goddess.

The horizontal format of the painting makes it ideal for decorating the wall behind a burgundy or yellow sofa or in the bedroom on the wall behind the bed, but also in the master bathroom above the tub given the marine subject of the work. It is also perfect for a fish restaurant in Naples or an Italian trattoria abroad. The landscapes of Naples and the Amalfi Coast are a recurring themes in the contemporary paintings of the Italian artist Alessandro Siviglia. But it’s no wonder given his Campanian roots and his love for the city of Naples in particular.
