TITLE: “Le Crociate Moderne”

Modern artwork on canvas, 17,7×17,7 inches (45x45cm), artist Alessandro Siviglia

“Le Crociate Moderne” in English “The Modern Crusades” is a modern figurative painting in a contemporary cubist style representing a medieval battle on horseback. Despite the size, the artist Alessandro Siviglia has created a rather complex scene with numerous soldiers on horseback, prisoners of war, weapons and other details. The recurring motif is the red cross on the white shield of the armored soldiers which recalls the Knights Templar who “had the task of defending the pilgrims who traveled along the holy roads between Jaffa and Jerusalem from the infidels.” (cit.)

A very dynamic and energetic picture, even if with scenes of violence, it remains a nice and enjoyable work due to the typical Siviglian painting style. A painting that finds space everywhere and is particularly suitable for furnishing the office or study, for example near the bookcase. Ideal as a gift for history buffs, a professor or a historian.
