TITLE: “Ritratto Triste”
Modern portrait of a couple, 13 × 13 inches (33×33 cm) with frame, mixed media on canvas, A. Siviglia 2026
A Cubist‑style portrait of a couple, created with a mixed‑media technique that blends acrylic and marker on canvas. The artist outlines only the two faces, placed side by side, set against a delicate, pale pistachio‑green background. The simplicity of the lines and the quiet intensity of their expressions evoke a muted sadness, as if the figures were suspended in the painful moment before an inevitable farewell.
Despite its modest size, the painting draws the eye with its strong contrasts and its almost monochromatic palette, which heightens the emotional resonance of the scene. It is an intimate work, capable of communicating a great deal through minimal means.
Ideal for small spaces, it fits naturally in an entryway, on a narrow wall between windows, along a hallway, or above a bedside table. A small painting that, in its simplicity, leaves a deep and lasting impression.
It pairs beautifully with the portrait Two Faces, sharing the same expressive style and the same pistachio‑green tones that create a seamless visual harmony between the two works.
