A Work, a Journey, a Castle

A Commissioned Masterpiece, Delivered by the Artist Himself

In the heart of France, nestled within the stone walls of a medieval castle, an art collector envisioned a striking addition to his historic residence: a dramatic painting depicting a duel between two armored knights. To bring this vision to life, he turned to Italian artist Alessandro Siviglia, known for his bold compositions and expressive style.

The result was a monumental canvas—measuring 150 x 140 cm—crafted to harmonize with the grandeur of the castle’s ancient halls. Yet the sheer scale of the piece posed a logistical challenge: transporting the stretched canvas risked irreparable damage. The standard solution would be to roll the artwork and ship it in a protective tube, leaving the task of mounting to a local framer. But in the quiet village surrounding the château, no artisan could be found with the skill to handle such a delicate undertaking.

Determined to preserve the integrity of his creation, Siviglia chose a path less traveled. He journeyed from Rome to the French countryside, personally delivering the painting to its new home. This act of devotion speaks volumes—not only of the artist’s commitment to his craft, but of the profound significance this work holds for both creator and collector.

The stretcher was delivered in pieces and assembled on site by the artist. Once constructed, the canvas was carefully stretched and mounted onto the frame.
